Restaurant Review: GLAM Vegan | Miami
Per their website, Glam Vegan is a new vibe on vegan in the Shops at Midtown Miami.
GLAM is the brainchild of Janette Miller, a successful Miami-based interior designer, who herself is a plant-based foodie, proud mom, environmentalist and animal lover. GLAM's menu is the creation of award winning chef Todd Erickson and is accessible to everyone, not just vegans. Their mission is Green Living Animals Matter, which is what "GLAM" stands for. GLAM is more than just a clever name; it’s an honest commitment to a better way of eating, living, and being.
Having a mostly vegetarian diet, as well as being an aspiring vegan, I made it a priority to seek out some plant-based eats upon moving to Miami. Glam Vegan is the first plant-based restaurant that I tried in Miami and I was not disappointed! My non-vegan / non-vegetarian boyfriend even enjoyed the food here! When meat eaters enjoy vegan food, you know its done well!
Don’t be fooled by the name. Although the space’s decor is super cute, its very much a casual establishment and there is no need to be GLAM to stop by for great vegan eats!
My BF and I have a really bad habit of ordering way too much food, especially when trying a new place - because we MUST try everything on the menu that sounds good! LOL (Raise your hand if you have this problem too) I always go really overboard at vegan and vegetarian spots because it is the rare occasion that I can and would eat EVERYTHING on the menu, instead of being limited to two or three vegetarian items to choose from.
I started off with the GLAMorous Shake (which is like a smoothie) and it is made with avocado, pear, spinach, mint, spirulina, coconut water. I am a sucker for green smoothies these days and this one was really tasty. The perfect balance of light and healthy + slightly sweet , as well as really refreshing.
To eat, I started with a bowl of the Tuscan White Bean + Kale soup, which was pretty tasty and hearty. The bowl is also a pretty large portion so beware. With all the food we ordered, I definitely should have ordered a half a cup. But I was being greedy. SMH. NOTE: The soups vary from day to day, so check the menu to see what’s being served that day . We shared the nachos and still didn’t put a dent in them. (because we had too much food to eat our way through!)
My entree was the Baby Kale Cobb. I don’t know if they forgot to add my dressing or what, but this was pretty flavorless. It was pretty, but no flavor. Healthy, but no taste. I wouldn't recommend nor order again more than likely - but maybe I was missing an ingredient, like dressing.
The last and final dish we tried on this visit was the Spaghetti + Meatless Meatballs. Super yum and filling. I’m not big on meat textures, so the meatballs were a but of a struggle for me due to their dense texture, but tasty nonetheless. I also added a pinch or two of salt (for my taste) to the spaghetti and with a little doctoring up, I went back and got this again since my first initial visit. Its very filling and a great alternative to spaghetti and MEATballs.
All in all, I enjoyed my visit, have gone back and will continue to go back until I’ve tried everything on the menu! My favs so far are the GLAMorous Shake, Tuscan White Bean + Kale Soup and the Spaghetti + Meatless Balls. Let me know if you have a favorite menu item here that I should try next!
